EDEN'S CAVE
RESIDENCIES
"Aercwel Mill offers a real connection back to the humanity of the work. It is an inspiring, patient space with a caring team that will work with you to blossom your ideas."
- Billy Maxwell Taylor,
Artistic Leader,
The Motion Pack
From our base at Aercwel Mill - a home and retreat space among the trees - we curate spaces that allow artists to be artists, with residential opportunities that enable deep connection, professional development, and creative support.
Aercwel Mill is a creative centre with a vision to offer a home, hearth and space of research for artists and makers of all stripes.
It is built on the principles of community, shared practice, focussed research, and deepening our relationship with the living world. It is also a family home.
A 400-year-old fulling mill, comprising a red sandstone cottage, a former mill building, two ruins, and just under an acre of land, it is situated in the Forest of Dean, just on the English-Welsh border and in an area rich with diverse history including an ancient bathing well, an iron age fort, blast furnaces and a historic abbey, as well as acres of established woodland.
These diverse environments and deep forests provide spaces for reflection, personal dreaming, and idea development, making it an ideal location to create a nurtured space for creative work.
The site hosts Eden’s Cave’s ‘The Gathering’ programme, solo and group residencies, and is open for hire from external theatre and film companies.
