EDEN'S CAVE
EDI STATEMENT
The Eden's Cave community celebrates equality, inclusion, and healthy community ecosystems. We welcome all cultures, ethnic origins, races, skin colours, accents, cultural identities, histories, herstories, theirstories, spiritual practices, religious affiliations, spiritual walks, gender identities, sexualities, and life experiences. We want to attract a diverse range of collaborators, and we want to welcome children and families whenever possible.
We recognise the systemic injustices that exist and our own conscious and unconscious biases. We recognise that we have not always done enough to address this in our work, and we are aware of our limitations. We are working to attract and create a more diverse range of collaborators, and to make our work in the landscape and on our site more accessible and inclusive. We are seeking more ways to increase access to what we offer for those in challenging socio-economic circumstances. We are aware of how easy it is to pay lip service to inclusivity, and we are dedicated to building equity into all we do long-term.
We are committed to embedding diversity, inclusion, anti-oppression, and liberation in what we do. We welcome people who are willing to name and address oppression dynamics as part of the work.
We are a small self-managing team with deep roots in and a serious commitment to collaboration. We value continual learning, honest dialogue, and operating in a peer-led way. We are working on forms that can support conflict resolution, embracing interpersonal difficulty as a key part of authentic collaboration, even when it is uncomfortable. We are building slowly, in line with our capacity as working practitioners, producers, freelancers, and parents of young children.
We are currently undertaking a series of actions in key areas:
-
We will support you to find funding to join our work.
-
We are working towards bursary offers for those facing financial hardship.
-
In recognition of systemic inequality and its long-term effects on our social and financial system, we automatically offer a 5% discount to all Black and Global Majority participants.
-
If you are a parent, we will work with you to accommodate your family as part of any residency.
-
We are working to provide an environment that is inclusive, accessible, and safe for families and children, ensuring they feel welcomed and valued.
-
We are monitoring our intake and working on broadening our pool of collaborators to reflect greater diversity.
Aercwel Mill is the home of two of our core team members and their children. As an old fulling mill, its upkeep represents a large commitment of both time and finance. All profits from Eden's Cave activities are channelled back into the site as part of the vision to offer it as a creative home for artists.
