'Forests' is a 6-year research project by Eden's Cave investigating our relationship with the living world in a time of ecological crisis. In 2020, the company premiered 'Forests' as a piece of theatre in Plymouth, UK. But, when the pandemic decimated the projects planned tour, the company decided to translate the piece into a film. In 2021, the company returned to the place they began - the exquisite and mysterious landscapes of the Forest of Dean - and over 18 days embarked on an ambitious filmmaking process.

In October 2023, Eden's Cave was invited by Arts Institute, Plymouth to create a day-long event and share the company's process developing 'Forests'. The day consisted of presentations from academics, an exhibition, workshop and a first sharing of sequences from 'Forests' the film alongside the theatre version. It was followed by a Q&A led by Dr Michael Pearce from Exeter University.
